Wegmans Recalls Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted After Salmonella Detected in Pistachios
Wegmans has issued a voluntary recall of two package sizes of its Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted after routine supplier testing detected Salmonella in one lot of raw pistachios that were later used in the mixed-nuts product.
What Was Recalled
The recall covers the following Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted products:
- 34 oz (964 grams)
- 11.5 oz (326 grams)
Where And When They Were Sold
Wegmans reports the affected products were sold at its stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Sales occurred between Nov. 3 and Dec. 1.
Why The Recall Was Issued
According to the company, routine testing by the supplier identified Salmonella in one lot of raw pistachios. Wegmans determined those pistachios had been used in the production of the Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted and initiated the recall as a precautionary measure. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with these products.
Health Risks And Consumer Guidance
Salmonella infection can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Young children, older adults, pregnant people, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at greater risk of severe illness.
If you have purchased the affected product, do not eat it. Instead, dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have contacted the product. If you experience symptoms consistent with Salmonella infection, contact your healthcare provider.
Where To Find More Information
Customers seeking details about lot numbers, refunds, or store-specific guidance should check Wegmans announcements or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website for updates. Wegmans has urged anyone with questions to contact their customer service for assistance.
Note: This recall is a precautionary action; maintaining good kitchen hygiene and avoiding consumption of recalled products helps reduce risk.
