Baltimore County police arrested 19-year-old Cameron Keelan on Dec. 8 and charged him with attempted kidnapping after an incident on Dec. 4 in Towson. Baltimore County police arrested 19-year-old Cameron Keelan on Monday, Dec. 8, and charged him with attempted kidnapping following an incident reported earlier that week in Towson, Maryland.
Incident Details
Officers responded on Thursday, Dec. 4, to a report of a "suspicious person" on Edgedale Road. A preliminary investigation determined that a male approached three young children in a residential neighborhood and tried to persuade them to leave with him, telling them their parents were not home.
"My son say he got close to him, but he didn't touch him. But he got close enough to him, that he could grab him," said the mother of two of the children, who asked to remain anonymous. She told Fox45 that her husband heard the children banging on the door and chased the man away.
Police say two of the children are siblings and that the family had seen the man before at a nearby bus stop. Law enforcement arrested Keelan on Dec. 8; he is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center on the attempted kidnapping charge.
The Baltimore County Police Department confirmed the arrest but has not released additional details about the investigation or a possible motive. PEOPLE and local outlet Fox45 reported the case and provided family statements.
