Autopsy Reveals Violence Before Death of Influencer Stefanie Pieper

An autopsy has determined that 31-year-old beauty influencer Stefanie Pieper "had been subjected to violence" before her death, authorities said. Pieper's body was discovered inside a suitcase buried in a forest roughly a week after she was reported missing.

Pieper was reported missing on Nov. 23 by a colleague after she failed to appear for a scheduled photoshoot, the Styrian Police Department said. Investigators identified her 31-year-old ex-boyfriend as a suspect and arrested him the following day.

How Authorities Located Pieper

Police searched a wooded area south of Maribor, Slovenia, where the suspect had close family ties, but initially found no sign of Pieper. After the suspect was extradited from Slovenia to Graz, Austria, on Nov. 28, authorities say he allegedly confessed and provided directions to a location where Slovenian officials ultimately discovered Pieper's body inside a buried suitcase.

"She had been subjected to violence," said Patricia Weber, deputy head of media relations at the Graz Public Prosecutor's Office. Weber added that further information cannot be released at this time because the investigation is ongoing.

During the inquiry, two relatives of the suspect were briefly detained after police said they had indications those family members might be linked to the disappearance; both were later released, according to a Nov. 30 police statement. The accused remains in custody as prosecutors continue their work.

This is an active criminal investigation. Authorities have not released additional details about the alleged crime.
