Florida Sixth-Grade Teacher Sentenced to 135 Years After Using AI to Produce Child Sexual Abuse Images and Committing Bestiality

David McKeown, a sixth-grade teacher in Holly Hill, Florida, was sentenced to 135 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated possession of child sexual abuse images, possession of child sexual abuse images, and sexual conduct with an animal. Police say searches of his devices and social media turned up 19 child sexual abuse images and six images involving animals. Investigators allege McKeown shared students' personal information and used AI to convert students' photos into abusive material; he also photographed himself with a family pet. McKeown entered an open plea, was found guilty, and received the lengthy sentence.

Teacher Given 135-Year Sentence After Creating Abusive AI Images And Photographing Bestiality

David McKeown, a sixth-grade teacher at United Brethren In Christ Academy in Holly Hill, Florida, was sentenced to 135 years in prison after a jury convicted him on charges that included aggravated possession of child sexual abuse images, possession of child sexual abuse images and sexual conduct with an animal, the Holly Hill Police Department confirmed.

Investigators said the probe began after a tip prompted police to search McKeown's electronic devices at both his home and the school where he worked. Authorities also reviewed his social media accounts and recovered 19 images of child sexual abuse material and six images depicting sexual activity involving animals.

According to police, McKeown used social media to message other users, shared students' personal information, and used artificial intelligence tools to convert photos of students into child sexual abuse material. Officers also discovered evidence that McKeown photographed himself engaging in sexual activity with a family pet.

McKeown entered an open plea to the charges and was subsequently found guilty. The sentencing—135 years in prison—was imposed following conviction.

Broader Concerns

The case highlights two troubling trends: the misuse of AI to manufacture abusive images and the dangers posed when an educator betrays students' trust and exploits access to personal photos and identifying information.

The Holly Hill Police Department and local prosecutors led the investigation that resulted in McKeown's conviction and sentencing.
