Ann Evans, 55, who disappeared after disembarking Holland America’s Rotterdam in Philipsburg on Nov. 20, was located on Nov. 28 after local police and partners made contact. Authorities said they coordinated with partners but will not release further details due to privacy laws. Police earlier reported a woman matching her description checked into a hotel on the French side of Sint Maarten. The Rotterdam had visited several Caribbean ports and was due back on Nov. 28.

Ann Evans, 55, who was reported missing after disembarking Holland America’s Rotterdam in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten on Nov. 20, has been located, authorities and the cruise line confirmed on Nov. 28.

Evans left the Rotterdam to join an organized island tour while the ship was docked and did not return at the scheduled boarding time. After a search and a missing-person alert issued on Nov. 26, local police made contact with her eight days later.

A Holland America Line spokesperson thanked the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) and other local partners for their efforts and said the company was relieved the situation had been resolved.

The KPSM posted an update saying that, 'following coordination between KPSM and other partners, contact has been made with the individual in question.' The department added that, 'in accordance with the laws governing privacy and the protection of personal data, no additional information will be released about the individual or their circumstances.'

Earlier in the inquiry, police said they had reason to believe a woman matching Evans' description had checked into a hotel on the French side of Sint Maarten using her passport and had been seen in the area around that establishment.

Evans had boarded the Rotterdam in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The vessel called at ports in the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Tobago, Barbados and Puerto Rico before its scheduled return on Nov. 28.

Authorities and the cruise line declined to provide further details, citing privacy and data-protection rules.
