The winning numbers for the Powerball drawing on Saturday, Oct. 3 were selected, but lottery officials are still verifying tickets to determine whether anyone matched all six numbers to claim the estimated $440 million jackpot (cash value: $181.3 million).

The jackpot had been climbing after an Illinois ticket previously won a $1.04 billion prize on Aug. 12. While officials complete ticket verification and prize confirmations, players will wait to learn whether a new multimillionaire has emerged or the top prize will roll over to the next drawing.
What Happens Next
If no verified jackpot ticket is confirmed, the top prize will roll over and grow until it is won. The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5 at about 10:59 p.m. ET. Viewers can watch live on the official Powerball website and find highlights on Powerball's YouTube channel.
