Airbnb has partnered with the American Farmland Trust (AFT) to launch the Farm to Stay Grant Program, offering grants of up to $10,000 per farm to help farmers and ranchers start or expand agritourism operations. Applications open in November at farmland.org/farm-to-stay.
Who This Helps
The program targets producers who want to convert working farmland into overnight accommodations or introduce on-farm visitor experiences but lack the capital to make their properties guest-ready. Grants can cover renovations, safety upgrades, guest amenities, and the launch of on-farm activities.

How Grant Funds Can Be Used
- Preparing or adapting a farmhouse, barn, or outbuilding for overnight guests
- Purchasing furnishings, safety equipment, or accessibility improvements
- Creating visitor experiences such as orchard harvests, wine tastings, farm-to-table meals, or hands-on work lessons
- Marketing and listing support to attract guests
"A Farm to Stay Grant can be what helps keep a family on their land through a bad season," said Jordi Torres Mallol, Airbnb Regional Director for the Americas. "Sharing a room in the farmhouse can offset increased costs and bring tourism dollars to communities that visitors have traditionally overlooked."
The announcement accompanies an Airbnb report showing the typical farm-stay host earned roughly $8,000 in 2025, while U.S. farms listed on the platform generated nearly $120 million collectively that year. This supplemental income comes as many farms face mounting financial pressure.
Interest in farm stays is rising: U.S. Google searches for "farm stay" have nearly quadrupled over the past decade, and host revenue from platform-listed farm stays has climbed nearly fivefold since 2018. Airbnb cited a variety of listings, including pig cuddling in rural Texas, a vegetable farm stay in Missouri, and an Alpine goat hike in Maine.

Workshops and Support
In addition to grants, Airbnb and AFT will offer free online workshops—open to everyone, no application required—covering listing setup, rural hosting best practices, and community resources. Workshops are scheduled for 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, October 14, and noon ET on Friday, November 13.
