A Dollar General manager in Barbour County, West Virginia, was arrested after an underage girl told deputies she was locked inside the store and subjected to inappropriate advances, according to local reports.
What Happened
On September 12, the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office took Jeffrey Irvin Malcolm into custody and charged him with solicitation of a minor, court records reviewed by the National Enquirer show. Malcolm is being held on a $40,000 bond.
The alleged victim told investigators she had been dropped off at the store and saw Malcolm motion for her to enter. She said Malcolm nearly closed the door behind her, then told her she was locked inside. The girl said Malcolm walked with her to the party-supplies aisle and then to the register, where he instructed a coworker not to ring up her purchases because he planned to handle the checkout himself.

'What are you going to do for me now since I paid for your stuff?' the girl alleged Malcolm asked, according to WDTV. When she threatened to get the manager, he allegedly laughed and said, 'Good thing I am the manager.'
During their interaction, other employees briefly stepped outside to take out the trash. When Malcolm allowed them back in, the girl fled the store and was found crying and visibly shaken by deputies who responded to the scene.
Investigation And Statements
When interviewed by police, Malcolm acknowledged buying the girl's items and locking the store door, saying that was "consistent with the procedure he had been trained to follow," according to media reports. He denied the allegation that he asked the girl what she would do for him in return.
Malcolm also admitted to drinking while on duty and was tested for blood alcohol; the result was 0.136 percent, above legal limits for driving. The sheriff's office charged him with solicitation of a minor; the investigation is ongoing and more charges could follow pending further findings.
