‘Intuitive Healer’ Arrested After Posting Forgiveness Video — Mother Found Stabbed in Delray Beach

A Florida man has been arrested after his 77-year-old mother was found dead in their Delray Beach home following a 911 call in which the son allegedly admitted to her killing.

What Happened
Authorities say 50-year-old Alexander Harrington called police on Sept. 11 and reported that he had killed his mother, identified as Susan Baratto. Responding deputies found Baratto inside the residence with stab wounds and took Harrington into custody at the scene. Officers also noted a cut on Harrington's arm. According to an affidavit cited by local media, when asked what happened he said, "I killed my mom."

Social Media Post Draws Attention

On the day before Baratto's body was discovered, Harrington posted a lengthy video to his Facebook page in which he describes himself as an "intuitive healer" and speaks about the practice of forgiveness. In the clip he says he wrote down and forgave everyone who had hurt him and emphasizes that forgiveness must be felt, not simply declared.

"You have to open your heart to forgive. You can't just say 'I'm a forgiving person,' because that does nothing; you have to bring the emotions up," Harrington says in the recording.

He also offers a short mantra for healing and warns that without emotional work people may repeat destructive patterns.

Charges, Mental-Health Notes and Ongoing Investigation

Harrington has been charged with first-degree murder, according to online court records. The affidavit notes that he told police he has schizoaffective disorder with bipolar features. Authorities have not released a motive, and detectives say they are continuing to investigate. Media outlets report that PEOPLE has reached out to an attorney listed in Harrington's court docket for comment.
