Fi, a New York–based pet supplement brand operated by Vet Plus, Inc., is voluntarily recalling two dog supplement lots after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration identified a potential risk of Salmonella contamination. The products were sold directly to consumers and through online retailers including Amazon and Chewy.

Reason For The Recall
According to the FDA, the likely source of contamination is an ingredient supplied to Fi’s manufacturer. The manufacturer has suspended production while it investigates the supplier and the affected ingredient.
Health Risks
For Dogs: Salmonella infection can cause lethargy, gastrointestinal signs such as diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, vomiting, reduced appetite, and stomach discomfort. Some infected dogs may show no obvious symptoms but can still carry and transmit the bacteria to other animals or humans.
For Humans: People who handle contaminated supplements or contact animal waste after a pet has consumed the product are at elevated risk, particularly if they do not wash their hands thoroughly. Human symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, fever, and diarrhea (occasionally bloody). Rarely, Salmonella can cause more severe complications such as bloodstream infections, inflammation of the heart lining (endocarditis), joint problems, muscle pain, eye irritation, or urinary issues. Anyone who develops these symptoms after exposure should seek medical attention.
What To Do If You Have The Affected Product
- Stop using the product immediately.
- Place it back in its sealed container and dispose of it in household trash.
