The dashcam footage is clear and shows the sequence of events: the Tesla joined the lane as it exited the driveway while a motorcycle from the Hong Kong Island Regional Traffic Unit rode against traffic with emergency lights activated. According to the Hong Kong Police, the officer was en route to a traffic-control assignment and entered the lane against the flow because severe congestion risked blocking emergency access.
The two vehicles made contact mid-lane. The motorcycle overturned and emitted a small puff of white smoke; the officer struck the ground hard but stood up unaided and attempted to lift the bike before two bystanders assisted. The Tesla sustained minor front-bumper damage and its front license plate was found on the road.
