President Volodymyr Zelensky said at least three people were killed and over 20 injured in recent Russian airstrikes across Ukraine, including a ballistic missile strike on Kryvyi Rih that killed two and wounded 14. Kyiv saw fires that were quickly extinguished, with a book market among the sites hit. Zelensky accused Russia of using munitions from North Korea and repeated pleas for allied air-defence missiles. Analysts warn the war has escalated as both sides deploy faster, longer-range weapons, increasing civilian casualties.

At least three people were killed and more than 20 injured in fresh Russian airstrikes across Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on Sunday.

In a ballistic missile strike on Zelensky's hometown of Kryvyi Rih, two people were killed and 14 were injured, he wrote on Telegram. Separately, one person died in Sumy in the country's northeast, and six people were wounded in Kyiv and surrounding areas. Emergency services were working at the sites of the attacks, Zelensky said.

Fires in Kyiv were brought under control quickly; a book market was among the sites hit.

'Wherever the Russians can reach with their missiles, they attack civilian infrastructure,' Zelensky warned, urging allies to provide more air-defence missiles.

Zelensky said Moscow had launched more than 1,550 drones, nearly 1,560 aerial bombs and about 62 missiles and cruise missiles at Ukraine over the past week. He reiterated accusations that Russia has used munitions supplied by North Korea.

'If North Korean missiles are destroying infrastructure and claiming lives here in Europe, we cannot allow European anti-aircraft missiles to simply remain sitting in warehouses,' he wrote.

Nearly four and a half years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion, analysts say the conflict has escalated as both sides deploy faster, longer-range weapons. Increasing numbers of civilians are being killed and injured in reciprocal attacks involving drones, missiles and cruise missiles.

Russian authorities also reported casualties and heavy infrastructure damage following large drone assaults, particularly in the Moscow metropolitan area.
