Updated recall notice: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has linked fresh jalapeños to an ongoing Salmonella investigation. As a result, Taylor Fresh Foods (Taylor Farms) has recalled 20 ready-to-eat dips, salads and sandwiches that may contain the affected jalapeños. These items were sold at major retailers across 26 states.
What Was Recalled
The recall covers 20 prepared products sold either under the Taylor Farms brand or various store brands. Affected items include (but are not limited to) the Private Selection Spicy Roast Beef Sandwich (Kroger), Mango Pico de Gallo (Target), Fiesta Salad With Shrimp (Trader Joe's), Freshness Guaranteed Mild Pico de Gallo (Walmart), and Salsa Fresca and Mild Pico de Gallo (Whole Foods).
Where The Products Were Distributed
Recalled products were distributed to the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
What You Should Do
- Do not eat any product listed in the Taylor Farms recall.
- Check the Taylor Farms product list for brand names, product titles and UPC codes to confirm whether an item in your refrigerator is included in the recall. Recalled items may carry a "Best If Used By" date on or before August 16, 2026.
- Dispose of recalled products or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

Health Impact And Company Response
The FDA reports 345 illnesses and 36 hospitalizations to date linked to the jalapeño-related outbreak. Taylor Fresh Foods states it has not received reports of illnesses tied specifically to the products it recalled. The company previously recalled iceberg lettuce during a multistate cyclospora outbreak.
Restaurants
Chipotle and Qdoba received jalapeños tied to the FDA probe and have stopped serving the affected peppers while the investigation continues.
