According to regional outlet Guajira News, the abduction occurred at about 2:30 a.m. when three or four armed men forced their way onto the private property and took Argáez Núñez. The suspects fled in a white 2018 Toyota Fortuner registered to the victim.
Following a security council meeting, Maicao Mayor Miguel Felipe Aragón announced a reward of up to 100 million pesos for information leading to Argáez Núñez's safe recovery, according to El Universal. The Mayor's Office said the reward will be awarded to anyone who provides credible, actionable information about her whereabouts.
Search and Investigation
Police and military anti-kidnapping units (Gaula) mobilized immediately, imposing road and village lockdowns and intensifying patrols near informal border crossings. National police intelligence (Sipol) and criminal investigations (Sijín) are coordinating the probe. Authorities are reviewing security-camera footage and other leads to trace the Fortuner and identify those responsible.

The kidnapping comes amid a broader rise in abductions in Colombia. Bogota-based think tank Fundación Ideas para la Paz reported 256 kidnappings from January–July 2025, a 57.1% increase from the same period in 2024. Colombia's Ministry of Defense recorded 56 kidnappings in January–February 2026, up from 50 in the same period last year.
As of Monday evening, Argáez Núñez's whereabouts remained unknown and the case is under active investigation. Friends, family and followers have launched online campaigns calling for her safe return.
