Ukrainian forces say they destroyed a Russian flag placed by a drone on a damaged building in Velyka Pysarivka, Sumy region, about 30 seconds after it landed. The 105th Territorial Defense Brigade reported that Ukrainian FPV teams located and struck the flag to prevent Moscow from using the footage to claim gains. The clip concentrates on the flag placement and strike; independent verification is currently unavailable and analysts are examining the video alongside satellite imagery and geolocation data.

Ukrainian forces released footage showing a Russian flag placed on a damaged building in Velyka Pysarivka, Sumy region, only to be destroyed about 30 seconds later by a Ukrainian FPV drone.

According to the 105th Territorial Defense Brigade, Russian operators first dropped the flag from a drone onto the roof of a damaged residential building. The clip then shows a Ukrainian FPV (first-person-view) drone approaching the site and striking the flag shortly after it landed, ending the display within roughly half a minute.

What the Brigade Says

The 105th Territorial Defense Brigade said its teams located the position quickly to prevent Russian forces from using the imagery to bolster claims of battlefield gains. "Enemy rags do not remain on Ukrainian soil for long," the brigade said, describing the operation.

Where This Happened

Velyka Pysarivka sits close to the border with Russia and has been repeatedly targeted while remaining an active area of military operations. The released footage focuses narrowly on the flag placement and the swift counter-strike rather than showing wider combat activity in the area.

Context And Verification

Throughout the Russia–Ukraine conflict, both sides have circulated videos supporting competing territorial claims, and frontline footage is often difficult to verify independently due to restricted access. Analysts routinely compare such clips with satellite imagery, geolocation checks and other open-source material before confirming assertions about territorial advances.

The new clip follows earlier contested footage circulated by Russian channels that purported to show forces raising a flag in Bilyi Kolodyaz, Kharkiv region — a recording analysts later flagged for potential digital manipulation, citing visual anomalies in the frame.

Why It Matters

Beyond the immediate tactical action, the episode illustrates how symbolic gestures and information operations accompany kinetic fighting on the front lines. As of now, independent verification of the Velyka Pysarivka video is not available, and open-source analysts and military experts are likely to continue examining the material to determine its authenticity and operational implications.
