Shandon Home Daycare Operator Arrested on 11 Counts of Lewd Acts With Children

A 67-year-old man from Shandon, California, has been arrested after investigators say he sexually abused multiple children at an unlicensed home daycare he operated with his wife.
Authorities identified the suspect as Javier RiveraMojica. The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says RiveraMojica is accused of committing lewd and lascivious acts against children under 14 while caring for them in the couple's residence in the small San Luis Obispo County community outside Paso Robles.
Detectives served a search warrant at the home on the 100 block of South Fourth Street. Investigators say they believe RiveraMojica gained access to numerous victims through the daycare and are working to determine whether additional victims or witnesses have not yet come forward.
RiveraMojica was taken into custody on a no-bail warrant and booked on 11 counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, plus nearly two dozen felony sentencing enhancements, the sheriff's office reported.
Authorities say the alleged victims have been offered advocacy and support services. The Sheriff's Office stressed its commitment to the victims' safety and well-being as the investigation continues.
"The Sheriff's Office remains committed to their safety and well-being throughout the investigation," the department said.
Detectives are urging anyone with information about the case — or anyone who believes they or a child they know may have had contact with RiveraMojica under similar circumstances — to contact the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Detective Division. The investigation remains ongoing.
