On July 25 in House Springs, Missouri, 73-year-old Robert Winkelman allegedly went to a neighbor's home to complain about noise and opened fire, fatally wounding a 38-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter. The teen, identified as Jersey Greer, was reportedly killed while trying to help her mother, Jessica Lashly. Deputies later encountered Winkelman, who shot himself and was hospitalized; he died on Aug. 2. Authorities had issued arrest warrants charging him with multiple counts before his death, and the family has launched a GoFundMe for expenses.

House Springs, Mo. — A neighbor upset about noise allegedly shot a mother and her teenage daughter during a confrontation on July 25, leaving the family and community reeling.

According to a statement from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and local outlets KSDK, WKRC and WOWT, 73-year-old Robert Winkelman walked to a nearby home in House Springs to question residents about activities at the residence. Investigators say the dispute escalated after a 38-year-old woman made a comment, at which point Winkelman produced a firearm and shot her in the head.

The woman's 17-year-old daughter, identified by local reports as Jersey Greer, ran to assist her mother and was also shot in the head. Deputies said Winkelman chased a third individual but that person was not struck.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Deputies arrived at the scene at about 8 p.m. and later encountered Winkelman outside his home. Officials say Winkelman shot himself during that encounter and was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.

The victims and the suspect were taken to area hospitals. Local reports identified the victims as 38-year-old Jessica Lashly and her 17-year-old daughter, Jersey Greer; both were later pronounced dead. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office issued an updated statement saying Winkelman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Aug. 2. An arrest warrant had been issued charging him with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action prior to his death.

Aftermath and Community Response

Family members launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover medical and funeral expenses. The fundraiser states, "Our hearts are broken for their family, friends, teammates, and everyone whose lives they touched," and asks for prayers and support.

"Jersey's last moments, she was trying to save my mom," Justice Greer, Jersey’s twin sister, told KSDK. "It just shows how brave she is, and I hope I can be half as brave as she is."

Investigators told reporters they had learned Winkelman had "ongoing frustrations" about activities at the neighbor's residence. Authorities continue to review evidence and interview witnesses as the investigation proceeds.
