Two NASA astronauts, Jessica Meir (veteran) and first-time spacewalker Anil Menon, will perform a planned spacewalk outside the International Space Station on Thursday, Aug. 6. Live coverage begins at 7 a.m. ET, with the planned exit around 8:35 a.m. ET and an expected duration of under seven hours. The pair will modify the station’s 3B power channel to prepare for a new solar array installation later in 2026.

Two NASA astronauts will suit up and step outside the International Space Station (ISS) for a planned spacewalk on Thursday, Aug. 6. NASA and its commercial partners will stream live coverage so the public can follow the operation in real time.

When To Watch

Live coverage begins at 7 a.m. ET on Aug. 6. The two astronauts are scheduled to exit the station at about 8:35 a.m. ET, and the excursion is expected to last under seven hours.

Where To Watch

NASA will stream the event on the free NASA+ app and provide feeds on Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. Netflix, which streamed the previous spacewalk, will not carry a livestream for this event.

Who Is Going Out

Veteran NASA astronaut Jessica Meir will make her sixth career spacewalk. She will be joined by fellow NASA astronaut Anil Menon, who arrived at the station in July and will perform his first spaceflight extravehicular activity. Meir will wear a suit with red stripes; Menon's suit will be unmarked, per NASA.

What They Will Do

Designated U.S. Spacewalk 96 (the 281st spacewalk in ISS history), this outing will focus on modifying the station’s 3B power channel to prepare for the installation of a new solar array later in 2026.

About the Station and Crew

The ISS has operated in low-Earth orbit for more than 25 years—usually about 260 miles above Earth—and serves as a microgravity laboratory for scientific research and commercial missions. The station is managed by an international partnership that includes NASA, Roscosmos, the European Space Agency, JAXA and the Canadian Space Agency.

Seven crew members assigned to Expedition 75 currently live and work aboard the ISS. Among them are the four Crew-12 crewmates who docked in mid-February: Jessica Meir, Jack Hathaway (both NASA), ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot, and Russian cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev. Anil Menon arrived in mid-July aboard a Roscosmos Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft with Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina for an approximately eight-month mission.
