What Happened

According to the Maui Police Department and reporting by Hawaii News Now, the confrontation began when a 61-year-old beachgoer asked Basin to lower his music. Prosecutors allege Basin then implied he was armed and threatened to shoot the man's wife, leading to a charge of first-degree terroristic threatening.

A viral clip of the incident shows Basin wielding a beach chair and attempting to swing it at another man. A bystander identified in the police report only as "Kama" intervened, striking Basin and knocking him to the ground. Kama told Hawaii News Now he used his mixed martial arts training to subdue Basin until police arrived.

Basin appeared in court on Tuesday to face the charge. Authorities continue to investigate the incident; no weapon has been reported publicly by police. The episode has drawn attention because of the widely circulated video and the serious nature of the alleged threat.
