The woman was treated for strangulation and a broken arm. Walker faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault by strangulation and assault of a child under 8. Johnthony Walker, 34, was arrested after an alleged July 23 incident at a Nashville residence in which police say he strangled his ex-girlfriend and assaulted her young child. The victim received treatment for strangulation and a broken arm, and investigators say the child — a 4-year-old — was tripped when trying to get help.

Details Of The Alleged Attack

According to arrest warrant affidavits obtained by local outlets, the woman told officers she had recently ended the relationship and believed Walker did not know where she lived. When she opened the door on July 23, prosecutors allege Walker forced his way inside, began punching and kicking her, and attempted to strangle her. The child intervened to seek help and was allegedly tripped by Walker, causing the child to cry. Investigators say Walker then took the woman’s phone and left the home.

Charges And Current Status

Online court records list multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault by strangulation, assault of a child under the age of 8, sex offender residence/victim violation, interfering with a 911 call, and aggravated burglary. Additional burglary and assault counts also appear in the docket. Plea information was not available in the public file at the time of reporting, and Walker’s attorney had not provided an immediate comment.

Related Past Convictions

This incident follows prior high-profile convictions. Walker was convicted of criminally negligent homicide for a 2016 crash in Chattanooga that killed six schoolchildren, all under 10. In 2020 he pleaded guilty to aggravated statutory rape for the assault of a 14-year-old, an incident authorities say occurred while he was living with the victim’s family.
