Two soldiers were arrested after an armoured vehicle incident at Swinton Barracks, Wiltshire, on 24 July. The Royal Military Police are investigating online footage that appears to show the vehicle striking parked private cars before being left in a parking bay. The Sun has identified the vehicle as a Bulldog APC (~15 tonnes) and reported no injuries, but those details have not been confirmed by the Army. The inquiry will determine whether any disciplinary or criminal action follows.

Two members of the British Army have been arrested after an armoured vehicle was involved in an incident at Swinton Barracks in Wiltshire, the Army has confirmed.

The Royal Military Police have opened an investigation into events that took place in the early hours of 24 July at Perham Down, part of Tidworth Garrison. Video clips circulating online and reported by BBC News appear to show an armoured vehicle driving through the barracks and colliding with several privately owned parked cars before being left in a parking bay further down the road.

The Army has said it will not provide further comment while the investigation continues.

Details Reported But Not Independently Verified

Reporting in The Sun identified the vehicle as a Bulldog armoured personnel carrier, estimated at about 15 tonnes, and said several private vehicles were damaged, including a silver MG ZS electric SUV and a modified Vauxhall van. The Sun also reported that no one was injured and that the Bulldog appeared undamaged before it was later moved back into a designated parking area inside the barracks. These specifics have not been confirmed publicly by the British Army or the Royal Military Police.

At this stage, the Army has not confirmed how the vehicle was accessed or whether it was operated without authorisation. Those questions form part of the Royal Military Police inquiry.

Army statement (as reported by BBC News): "We expect the highest standards from our personnel. Two soldiers have been arrested by the Royal Military Police following an incident at Perham Down on 24 July. We will not comment further while an investigation is ongoing."

The Sun has suggested the two soldiers had been on a night out before the incident and that the vehicle was later returned to its allocated space; however, neither the Army nor the Royal Military Police has corroborated those claims.

The investigation remains active. The findings will determine whether any disciplinary or criminal action is taken.

Image and video clips circulating online have been attributed in some reports to The Sun; the origin of the footage has not been independently confirmed.
