Taco Bell will sell Mexican Pizza for $1 at participating locations through 11:59 p.m. PT on July 28, redeemable in-store or via the app and limited to one per order. The promotion follows a recent $1 Enchirito deal and comes as the chain works to restore customer confidence after removing Taylor Farms lettuce linked to a national cyclosporiasis outbreak. The CDC reports more than 11,500 cases this season, with several states notably affected and investigations ongoing.

Taco Bell is offering its Mexican Pizza for $1 at participating locations through 11:59 p.m. PT on July 28, the chain announced on social media. The promotion follows last week’s $1 Enchirito deal and is redeemable in-store or through the Taco Bell app. The offer is limited to one Mexican Pizza per order.

What’s in the Mexican Pizza

The Mexican Pizza features seasoned beef and beans layered between two flour tortillas and topped with Mexican pizza sauce, melted cheese and diced tomatoes. Regular prices typically range from $5.39 to $6.99 depending on location.

Health Context And Supply Changes

Although Taco Bell did not link the promotion to ongoing public-health concerns, the chain has faced a notable decline in visits after its lettuce supplier, Taylor Farms, was connected to a national cyclosporiasis outbreak. Taco Bell said on July 17 that it removed Taylor Farms lettuce from restaurants and, in a statement provided to USA TODAY on July 27, confirmed it has "completed removal of affected Taylor Farms lettuce from our restaurants" and removed the ingredient from its supply chain nationwide while continuing consultations with public health officials.

Outbreak Overview

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on July 24 that the cyclosporiasis outbreak has spread to nine states and that more than 11,500 cases have been reported this season. Of those reports, 4,173 infections are confirmed and roughly 7,400 additional reports are under review to determine whether they are linked to exposures in the U.S. food supply. CDC officials note that the true number of illnesses is likely higher because many people recover without medical care and are not tested for Cyclospora.

Customer Response And Foot Traffic

Reactions to the discounted promotions on Taco Bell’s social channels suggest customers appreciate the deals. Data from Placer.ai, which uses camera and mobile-device signals to estimate visits, showed Taco Bell foot traffic was down more than 30% nationwide compared with the chain’s average for Fridays between Jan. 1 and July 6 this year, USA TODAY reported.
