The PlayStation Network experienced a widespread outage on Friday, leaving thousands of users unable to sign in, stream games or access the online store. Reports first appeared on Downdetector and PlayStation said engineers were working to restore services but offered no ETA. A pro‑Iran group, 313 Team, claimed a separate alleged attack on Microsoft 365; however, any link to the PlayStation outage is unverified.
PlayStation Network Outage Leaves Thousands Unable To Play — Hackers' Claims Add Uncertainty

Thousands of PlayStation users across multiple regions reported they could not access games or online services after Sony confirmed that PlayStation Network services were down on Friday afternoon.
Families and schoolchildren hoping to start the summer break with titles such as Astro Bot or Marvel's Spider-Man 2 found they could not sign in, stream games, manage accounts or use the online store.
What PlayStation Said
PlayStation's status page acknowledged widespread problems and said engineering teams were working to restore services "as soon as possible." The company did not provide an estimated time for restoration or a technical explanation for the outage.
Player Reports
Outage reports first appeared on Downdetector in the early afternoon, with thousands noting connectivity issues. On X (formerly Twitter) players reported being unable to log in, load games or even power off some consoles, expressing frustration and confusion.
Possible Context And Claims From Hackers
The disruption comes shortly after a pro‑Iran hacking group known as 313 Team claimed responsibility for an alleged cyber‑attack on Microsoft 365 services, according to Site Intelligence Group, which tracks and analyses extremist activity. The group said it targeted "main servers" and disrupted services including SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive.
313 Team posted on Telegram that it targets western systems it described as "serving the enemy" and framed its actions as revenge for the death of a senior figure it named. These claims — including any suggested link between the Microsoft 365 incident and the PlayStation outage — have not been independently verified, and there is no confirmed evidence publicly available that connects the outages.
What Users Should Do
PlayStation users affected by the outage should monitor the official PlayStation Network status page and Sony's verified social channels for updates. If you cannot sign in or access purchases, avoid repeated login attempts and check any queued downloads or updates once services are restored. For ongoing problems after an official resolution, contact PlayStation Support.
Note: Attribution of outages to specific hacking groups should be treated cautiously until verified by security researchers or the affected companies.
