Paris Knife Attack Near Porte de Clichy: Man Detained After Stabbing Three Women

French police detained a man on Monday after he allegedly attacked three women with kitchen knives near Porte de Clichy in Paris, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said.
Incident: The victims were aged 19, 24 and 36. According to Nunez, the attacker used two kitchen knives; two of the women were seriously wounded and received medical treatment.
Video Footage: Video circulated on the social platform X and verified by Reuters shows a man with long black hair wearing a cream tracksuit, holding a large knife in each hand as he stabs and attempts to assault a young woman. It is unclear from the footage whether that particular woman was injured. A separate clip shows the same man immobilized on the ground by passers-by, with the two knives lying on a nearby pedestrian crossing.
While on the ground, the suspect is heard saying, "It is Allah who commanded me." Authorities described his statements during arrest as incoherent and said they could not immediately verify his identity.
Response: Nunez said the attacker was restrained by bystanders and then detained by an off-duty police officer, whom the minister praised for his courage. The French national anti-terrorist prosecutor's office said it is considering whether to open an investigation.
Ongoing Inquiry: Investigators are continuing to establish the motive and verify the suspect's identity. Further updates will be provided as inquiries progress. (Reporting by Reuters)
