A Gold Coast property developer, Sam Gordon, crashed his A$1 million Ferrari SF90 into a tree on Rio Vista Blvd, splitting the car into front and rear sections. Despite the dramatic damage, the sole occupant was assessed for only non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews and Gordon credited the SF90’s carbon-fibre passenger cell and crumple zones for protecting the driver. Police say an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
A$1 Million Ferrari SF90 Splits in Half in Violent Crash — Owner Walks Away, Credits Ferrari

Photos from the Gold Coast show a red Ferrari SF90 separated into front and rear sections after a dramatic collision on Rio Vista Blvd. Despite the car tearing in two, the vehicle's owner and sole occupant walked away without life-threatening injuries — a result he and emergency crews attribute to the car's safety engineering.
Australian media reported that Gold Coast property developer Sam Gordon crashed the SF90 into a tree at about 9:15 a.m. on Sunday in Mermaid Waters. Images circulating on social media show the rear section lying several metres from the cabin, underscoring the force of the impact.
The Ferrari SF90, valued at more than A$1 million and capable of speeds near 211 mph, had its cabin separate from the rear of the car. It is not known how fast the car was travelling at the time of the crash.
Safety Features Credited for Avoiding Serious Injury
Paramedics and police said the vehicle's rigid carbon-fibre passenger cell and engineered crumple zones at the front and rear absorbed much of the impact, protecting the occupant from severe harm. Queensland Police Service confirmed the sole occupant exited the vehicle and was assessed at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, according to News.com.au. Paramedics reported that no one required further treatment on site.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have not disclosed whether any charges will be filed. The Queensland Police Service said investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
In a video posted to Instagram after the crash, Gordon reassured followers that he was okay and thanked Ferrari for the car's protection. He said: "I just wanted to do a quick shout-out to say thank you to everyone that's reached out ... I'll get back to you all when I can. But just want to let everyone know I'm all good, I'm all sweet. Massive shout-out to Ferrari for building a crazy car that protects the driver first in an accident."
Gordon had unveiled the SF90 on Instagram about a year earlier, calling it his dream car. The dramatic crash has prompted widespread attention online, with many pointing to the incident as an example of how modern safety design can protect occupants even in severe collisions.
