A Minoa, New York, couple was arrested after police say their actions led to an intentionally set fire in their home on July 18 while their five children — all under 17 — were inside. Dale Oneal reportedly extinguished the blaze and the family escaped without injury. Both parents face charges including reckless endangerment and endangering a child; Aubree Oneal also faces arson and has bail set at $100,000. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities in Onondaga County, New York, say a Minoa couple has been arrested after investigators allege their actions led to a fire that was set inside their home while their five minor children were inside.

According to online court and jail records and statements from the Manlius Police Department, 49-year-old Dale Oneal and his 47-year-old wife, Aubree Oneal, were taken into custody in connection with the blaze on Saturday, July 18. Investigators allege the fire was intentionally set inside the residence.

Dale Oneal reportedly extinguished the flames and the entire family escaped the home. No physical injuries were reported. Responding officers later said they found Aubree Oneal "intoxicated" during a disturbance call, per police.

Neighbor Accounts

Neighbors described the fire as fast-moving. Debbie Narovella and John Sobotka Jr. told local reporters they saw flames on the Oneals' porch and watched the blaze spread up through the roof before they could call 911.

Charges and Legal Status

Jail records show both Aubree and Dale Oneal face charges of Reckless Endangerment, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Conspiracy. Aubree Oneal has been additionally charged with Arson; her bail was set at $100,000. Online records did not list pleas for either defendant at the time of reporting, and Dale Oneal's online docket was not available.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing. Representatives for the Oneals did not provide comment when contacted, and some court records remain unavailable to the public.

Note: This account is based on law enforcement statements and local reporting; charges are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
