Panasonic has recalled about 11,480 NB-G200 toaster ovens in the U.S. (2,184 in Canada) due to a potentially defective fiberglass sleeve that can leave the power cord insulation exposed, creating a shock or fire risk. The CPSC announced the recall on July 16, 2026; affected units were sold online from October 2024 through April 2026 for roughly $170. Panasonic is offering full refunds (reportedly no proof of purchase required); refunds should arrive six to eight weeks after return. Owners should stop using and unplug the oven immediately and contact Panasonic at 888-943-2391 or via the company recall page.
Panasonic Recalls NB-G200 Toaster Ovens After Power Cord Defect — 11,480 Units in U.S.

Panasonic has recalled about 11,480 NB-G200 electric toaster ovens sold in the United States (plus 2,184 units in Canada) after a defective protective sleeve may leave the power cord insulation exposed, creating a risk of electric shock or fire. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on July 16, 2026.
What’s the Problem?
According to Panasonic and the CPSC, a fiberglass sleeve that is supposed to protect the toaster oven’s power cord may not fully cover the cord’s insulation. If the insulation is exposed, the cord could create an electrical short, electric shock or a potential fire hazard while the appliance is in use.
Which Units Are Affected?
- Model: NB-G200 (all affected units carry this model number)
- Where sold: Online through Amazon, Costco, Panasonic and other retailers
- When sold: October 2024 through April 2026
- Retail price: About $170
- How to identify: The model number appears on the nameplate label on the back of the appliance. Ensure the unit is powered off and unplugged before inspecting the label.
Incidents Reported
The CPSC report lists four incidents involving tripped circuit breakers or affected electrical outlets and one report of a unit that stopped working. No fires or injuries have been reported to date.
What Owners Should Do
- Stop using the toaster oven immediately and unplug it from the outlet.
- Do not try to test the cord or modify the appliance yourself — an oven can look and operate normally before an electrical fault becomes apparent.
- Panasonic is offering a full refund instead of repairs or replacements.
- According to reporting, customers do not need proof of purchase to qualify. After approval and return to Panasonic’s recall partner, refunds are expected within six to eight weeks.
How To Request a Refund
Contact Panasonic at 888-943-2391 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. ET) or begin the refund process through Panasonic’s official toaster oven recall web page. Keep the unit unplugged until Panasonic provides further instructions.
Quick cooking is convenient, but safety comes first — unplug any recalled NB-G200 toaster oven and contact Panasonic for a refund.
