The IRGC said it launched missile and drone strikes on US-linked facilities in Jordan and Bahrain, claiming the destruction of MQ‑9 Reaper drones and damage to an F‑15 preparation shed and two helicopters. Jordanian authorities reported intercepting six missiles and four drones; smoke over Aqaba was attributed to falling debris. No injuries were reported and the Pentagon had not commented; flight operations were briefly disrupted while runways were checked. The IRGC’s account has not been independently verified.
IRGC Claims Missile and Drone Strikes On US-Linked Bases In Jordan And Bahrain; MQ‑9s, F‑15 Hangar And Helicopters Reportedly Hit

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Wednesday that it launched missile and drone strikes on US-linked facilities in the Gulf region, naming Jordan’s King Faisal and Prince Hassan air bases and reporting an attack on a US-used base in Bahrain. The claims, issued via Iranian state media and the IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency, have not been independently verified and the Pentagon had not commented at the time of reporting.
Claims, Targets and Damage
The IRGC said its Aerospace Force carried out a multi-phase attack that struck an F-15 preparation shed and a drone preparation area at the Jordanian bases. In its statement the IRGC claimed the following:
- Eight new and refurbished MQ‑9 Reaper drones were "completely destroyed" before they could be assembled, and two others were "heavily damaged."
- An F‑15 fighter jet preparation shed and a helicopter hangar were hit; two US military helicopters were described as "severely damaged."
- "A number of invading forces were killed and wounded," the statement added, without providing names or independent confirmation of casualties.
"If the aggressions continue, we will prepare for a regretful operation that will lead to a declaration of public mourning in the US," the IRGC statement said.
Local Responses And Interceptions
Jordanian state media and the Jordanian Armed Forces reported that multiple incoming missiles and drones were intercepted. Jordanian authorities said six Iranian missiles were intercepted and later reported four Iranian drones were also intercepted in Jordanian airspace. Officials said smoke seen over Aqaba resulted from falling debris; no injuries were reported.
Israel’s military (IDF) said no Iron Dome interceptors were launched and that no debris from Jordan’s interceptions fell on Israeli territory. Sirens reportedly sounded in parts of Saudi Arabia as some Iranian projectiles were detected moving toward the country. Sirens also sounded in Sirik, Iran amid reports of airstrikes.
Other Effects
Video shot from Eilat showed smoke over the Aqaba area on July 22, 2026. Flight operations were temporarily disrupted: an Arkia commercial flight from Ben‑Gurion to Ramon Airport was forced to circle until authorities cleared the runway of possible debris. The Pentagon had not issued a statement confirming the IRGC’s account when this article was published.
Reporting Notes
