President Trump said Walmart will cut prices on multiple items and claimed a pound of ground beef would drop by nearly 15% after his administration asked retailers to help mark America’s 250th birthday. He posted the claim on Truth Social, praised Walmart, and urged other chains to follow. Trump framed the move as a reversal of price increases he attributes to the Biden administration and also criticized Biden on immigration and Afghanistan. Walmart has not confirmed the price cuts.

President Donald Trump said Monday that Walmart would sharply reduce prices across a range of products after, he said, his administration asked the retailer to help mark America’s 250th birthday. He specifically claimed the price of a pound of ground beef would fall by nearly 15%.

In a Truth Social post, Trump praised Walmart as "one of the biggest, best, and smartest retailers in America" and called the company "truly patriotic." He said the discounts would benefit millions of Americans and urged other retailers to follow Walmart’s lead.

“Oil prices are plummeting FAST, and gas prices at the pump are dropping too — just like egg and Prescription Drug prices, which I am bringing down by historic levels.”

Trump contrasted the announcement with what he called the "total disaster" of the Biden years, saying his team is lowering prices that "Joe Biden incompetently raised" and labeling it "the worst inflation crisis in history." He also criticized the Biden administration’s handling of the southern border and the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Important: Walmart has not publicly announced any price reductions or confirmed Mr. Trump’s statements. There is no independent confirmation of the specific 15% figure for ground beef at this time.
