Iran Executes Two Men Over January 2026 Unrest, Judiciary Outlet Reports

Iran executed two men on June 16 who were identified by the judiciary's news outlet Mizan as "armed leaders of early 2026 unrest" in Shahrud county. The men were named as Javad Zamani and Abolfazl Saedi. They were convicted of moharebeh (waging war against God), corruption on earth, damage to property and crimes against national security. Reuters cited the Mizan report in its coverage.

DUBAI, June 16 (Reuters) - Iran executed two men on June 16 whom the judiciary's news outlet Mizan identified as "armed leaders of early 2026 unrest" in Shahrud county. Mizan named the individuals as Javad Zamani and Abolfazl Saedi.

Convictions and Charges

According to the report, both men were convicted on multiple charges, including moharebeh (waging war against God), "corruption on earth," damage to public and private property, and crimes against national security. The judiciary outlet described the pair as having led armed activity during unrest in January 2026.

"Armed leaders of early 2026 unrest," Mizan said in its report identifying the defendants.
