Massive Bio and Optellum have partnered to combine Optellum's Lung Cancer Prediction AI with Massive Bio's trial-matching technology to accelerate access to NSCLC clinical trials. The workflow uses de-identified CT-based risk flags to match patients with geographically appropriate trials and sends actionable reports directly to treating physicians. The process is designed to protect patient privacy and keep referral and enrollment decisions with clinicians. Optellum's tool is FDA-cleared and Massive Bio operates in over 17 countries.

Massive Bio and Optellum have formed a partnership to connect early non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) detection with rapid access to clinical trials by combining Optellum's Lung Cancer Prediction (LCP) AI with Massive Bio's AI-driven trial-matching platform.

How the Collaboration Works

Optellum's LCP analyzes radiology reports and chest CT scans to flag patients with lung nodules assessed as higher risk. When a higher-risk case is identified, Optellum shares a de-identified patient profile with Massive Bio. Massive Bio reviews the profile and matches the patient to suitable NSCLC clinical trials that are geographically accessible, then issues an actionable report that is sent directly to the treating physician.

The workflow is designed to preserve patient privacy and keep review, referral, and enrollment decisions under clinician and site control, while minimizing extra effort for care teams and patients. In many cases this information reaches physicians before a formal cancer diagnosis, helping to preserve time-sensitive opportunities for curative-intent treatment or trial enrollment.

Arturo Loaiza-Bonilla, Chief Medical AI Officer at Massive Bio, said: 'For the first time, we can close the loop between a high-risk CT finding and a relevant clinical trial referral — in real time, and at scale. NSCLC patients flagged by Optellum’s LCP AI are some of the most time-sensitive candidates for clinical research: they’ve been identified early, before the window for curative-intent options closes. Our collaboration ensures that their physicians receive the right trial information, in the right geography, at exactly the right moment in the care journey.'

Massive Bio operates in more than 17 countries and specializes in AI-driven precision oncology and clinical trial enrollment. Optellum's LCP is a clinical decision support tool that has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for early-stage lung cancer use. Last month, Massive Bio also signed a strategic partnership with Just Worldwide to expand connections between cancer patients and clinical studies.
