Heather Bessette Arrested in Rhode Island on Child Trafficking, Drug and Assault Charges

On May 28, Rhode Island State Police arrested 36-year-old Heather Bessette of 282 Providence Street after executing a court-authorized search warrant and arrest affidavit, officials said.
Charges: Bessette is facing six counts: trafficking a minor for sexual servitude; conspiracy to commit that trafficking; contributing to a minor's delinquency; supplying a minor with Schedule I or II controlled substances; felony assault with a dangerous weapon; and enticing a minor to leave town.
The Special Victims Unit led the operation with assistance from the Major Crimes Unit, the Violent Fugitive Task Force, uniformed troopers and the Tactical Team. Following the arrest, Bessette was booked and appeared for arraignment at Sixth District Court.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities say the investigation remains active and additional details are under review. Officials have not released further information about potential victims to protect their privacy while the case proceeds through the courts.
