Stephen Siller Jr., son of 9/11 firefighter Stephen Siller, is leading the Tunnel To Towers Foundation as it expands efforts to end veteran homelessness. The nonprofit says it has assisted more than 17,500 veterans and is converting vacant buildings into veterans villages across the U.S. A new Long Island village repurposed a blighted building into housing, and over 1,700 mortgage-free homes have been delivered or are underway. Donations can be made through the foundation's website.
Son of 9/11 Firefighter Leads Tunnel To Towers In Building Veterans Villages Nationwide

The son of 9/11 firefighter Stephen Siller is helping lead the Tunnel To Towers Foundation as it expands efforts to provide housing and support services for veterans and families affected by service-related loss or injury.
Turning Loss Into Long-Term Support
Founded by Siller's family after he was killed in the September 11 attacks, the Tunnel To Towers Foundation has provided housing assistance and supportive services to more than 17,500 veterans who were homeless or at risk. The nonprofit has broadened its mission to include families of fallen service members and first responders, along with veterans who were severely injured while serving.
That expanded focus has prompted the foundation to convert vacant hotels and other buildings into dedicated veterans villages across the country. On Long Island, a recently opened village transformed a building that community members long considered a blight into safe, supportive housing for veterans and their families.
"There’s been tons of bad stuff going on there, and now it’s going to be all about great stuff," Stephen Siller Jr. told Katie Pavlich Tonight, describing the Long Island project.
In addition to village projects, Tunnel To Towers reports that more than 1,700 mortgage-free homes have been delivered or are currently in progress. Alongside housing, the foundation provides services designed to help veterans regain stability and help bereaved families move forward.
How to Help: Individuals who wish to support the foundation’s work can donate through the Tunnel To Towers Foundation website to fund additional mortgage-free homes and veterans villages.
