Katie Miller publicly challenged children’s entertainer Rachel Griffin-Accurso after the YouTuber described alleged inhumane conditions for children at the ICE processing center in Dilley, Texas. Griffin-Accurso reported accounts of undrinkable water, worms in food and inadequate medical care. Miller disputed Griffin-Accurso’s firsthand knowledge on X and criticized her remarks; DHS issued a statement criticizing celebrity commentary and raising concerns about trafficking and the impact on smuggled children.

Katie Miller pushed back publicly after children’s educator and activist Rachel Griffin-Accurso (known as Ms. Rachel) described what she said were troubling conditions for children held at an ICE processing center in Dilley, Texas.

Griffin-Accurso recounted details she said she heard from children and families during interviews on MS NOW. "It’s heartbreaking talking to the kids and their families," she told interviewer Antonia Hylton on The Beat with Ari Melber. "They’re talking about water that they can’t even drink that makes them sick. There’s been worms in the food. The food is rotten sometimes."

"And what really frightens me is the dangerously inadequate medical care in medical emergencies," Griffin-Accurso added. "These are basic human rights for children, and we can all agree not to harm and abuse children. It’s not who we want to be."

Griffin-Accurso continued, "I’m kind of in shock about what I’m hearing, and I don’t think people really know what’s going on inside of Dilley, and I think if we all know, I really think we can unite over not wanting to harm children." The Daily Beast reported that it reached out to Ms. Rachel for comment.

Katie Miller, host of The Katie Miller Podcast and a mother of three expecting a fourth child, responded on X, disputing Griffin-Accurso’s account. In her post she wrote, "This is utter bulls--t. Ms Rachel has never been to Dilley or an ICE facility." Miller added that the most compassionate message is to discourage dangerous migration and wrote that Griffin-Accurso is "paid tens of millions by Netflix to indoctrinate children with trans ideology."

The Department of Homeland Security also issued a statement to The Daily Beast criticizing celebrities who speak about immigration conditions and blaming recent border policies for a humanitarian crisis. The DHS statement raised concerns about trafficking and the psychiatric impact on children who are smuggled across the border.

Griffin-Accurso’s comments and Miller’s reaction come amid broader debate over U.S. immigration policy. Miller’s husband, Stephen Miller, is widely known as a driving force behind hardline immigration policies in the Trump administration. The report also referenced a recent enforcement effort called "Operation Metro Surge" in Minnesota, which was followed by two fatal shootings in January.

What to watch: Follow-up reporting or official statements from ICE, DHS, and representatives for Ms. Rachel and Katie Miller could provide further verification of the specific claims about conditions at Dilley.
