Fact Check: Netanyahu Video Register Shows "15/03/2026" — Not 2024
Lead Stories says: 2026 Date

Short Take: A viral claim that a coffee shop register in Benjamin Netanyahu's video shows "2024" is incorrect. Lead Stories examined the 2160p (4K) copy of the footage and at about 57 seconds the register clearly reads "15/03/2026". This fact check focuses only on the readable date shown on the screen and does not validate broader conspiracy theories based on low-resolution images.

Claims circulated online that a coffee shop register visible in a video shared by Benjamin Netanyahu displayed a 2024 date. A review of the highest-resolution copy of the footage shows that the register actually reads "15/03/2026".

What Was Claimed

On March 15, 2026, the X account @merlinscapital posted two screenshots from a video attributed to Benjamin Netanyahu with the caption:

The post included one image of the coffee shop counter and a second zoomed-in view of the register display. That claim suggested the footage was misdated or inauthentic because the register supposedly showed "2024."

What We Checked

We examined the original video posted from Benjamin Netanyahu's verified X account on March 15, 2026 and captured a frame from the highest available resolution (2160p / 4K). At approximately the 57-second mark the image is sharp enough to read the register's display.

Findings

The close-up frame clearly shows the date on the register as 15/03/2026. The higher-resolution (2160p) source provides sufficient clarity at that moment to distinguish the last two digits as "26," not "24." This fact check addresses only the visible date on the register and does not evaluate unrelated conspiracy claims that rely on low-resolution crop interpretations.

Verdict: The register in the video reads "15/03/2026," not 2024.

Note: Viewing the highest-resolution version of a video and checking timestamps or metadata when possible helps avoid misreading low-resolution screenshots.
