Man Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Parents at Family-Owned Deli

Nassau County authorities say 30-year-old Vito D'Ambrosio has been charged with first-degree murder after his parents, Angela Pulisciano, 62, and Antonio D'Ambrosio, 70, were found fatally stabbed at A&A Italian Deli and Pizza in Bethpage, Long Island.

Police allege the attack occurred the morning of Thursday, Dec. 4. Investigators say Vito drove to the deli around 9 a.m., entered a back room and stabbed his mother in the throat before also attacking his father. Officers located the suspect shortly afterward in the deli parking lot and arrested him; authorities reported he had blood on his clothing and hands.

Officials said Vito was wearing an ankle monitor tied to a separate matter at the time of his arrest. Police also reported an earlier, unrelated incident that morning at a nearby coffee shop, where a clerk complained that he had been touched inappropriately — an event that prompted a 911 call shortly before the killings.

According to one customer, the suspect reportedly admitted, 'I stabbed my parents,' while leaving the store prior to police arrival.

Court records reviewed by local outlets indicate Vito had been estranged from his family; a judge issued a protection order against him in November following a domestic dispute with a sibling. Authorities say the suspect is currently hospitalized with injuries and is scheduled for a psychiatric evaluation. He pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of first-degree murder and is due back in court on Dec. 9.

Community Response

The Long Island community has rallied around the surviving children and other family members. A GoFundMe organized for funeral and memorial expenses describes Tony and Angela as immigrants who built the deli 'with love, humility and pure dedication' and says the couple served the neighborhood for more than 30 years. As reported, the fundraiser has raised more than $50,000.

Local outlets reporting on the case include People, CBS New York and ABC 7 New York; Nassau County Police Department investigators continue to review evidence and the circumstances surrounding the killings.
