Case Status And Context
Mangione is being held at MDC while awaiting trial in connection with the fatal shooting of healthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a Midtown Manhattan street last year. He appeared in court in early December for several days of suppression hearings related to evidence in the case. He has pleaded not guilty to state and federal murder charges and also faces forgery charges in Pennsylvania. His trial is expected to proceed in 2026.
The detention complex previously housed high-profile detainees, including Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was later transferred to Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey.
