Carly Farmer, a veterinary scientist in Fairfield, Vermont, founded Farmer Analytics to deliver rapid on‑site parasite testing and management services to livestock producers. The service solves issues with mailed samples that can be delayed or degraded, enabling faster diagnoses and treatment. Farmer Analytics also offers consulting and online courses so farmers can monitor parasites themselves. The company won a $10,000 start‑up grant in July and is now a finalist for another Amber Grant, and is asking for community votes to help it expand.
Vermont Startup Brings Fast On‑Site Parasite Testing to Protect Livestock

In Fairfield, Vermont, veterinary scientist Carly Farmer has turned her expertise in parasitology into a practical service that helps farmers keep their animals healthy. Through her company, Farmer Analytics, she provides rapid, on‑site parasite testing, management consulting, and online training for producers.
From Laboratory to Local Service
Farmer's interest in biology and pathology led her to earn a BS in Animal and Veterinary Science from the University of Rhode Island and to join a parasite research lab as a fellow. That fellowship expanded into graduate study and advanced research in parasitology, and she says she quickly became passionate about understanding and managing parasites that affect livestock.
Solving A Real Problem For Farmers
Farmer Analytics launched nearly two years ago to address a common problem: mailed samples to distant labs were often delayed, lost, or degraded, making them unusable. By testing samples on site or offering quick drop‑off turnaround, Farmer Analytics reduces waiting time and gives producers faster, actionable results.
Services Offered
The company's services include:
- On‑site parasite testing with fast result turnaround
- Livestock parasite management consulting tailored to herd and pasture conditions
- Online courses that teach farmers how to collect samples and interpret basic results themselves
'Timing for parasite diagnosis is critical because animals can decline rapidly,' Farmer says. 'Providing quick results helps producers treat problems early before they escalate into production losses or animal deaths.'
Community Support And Growth
Farmer Analytics served clients across the region and in other parts of the country. The business won a $10,000 start‑up grant in July and is now one of 12 finalists for another Amber Grant. Farmer says additional funding would help expand outreach, equipment, and training resources for producers.
Farmer and her team are asking for community support — every vote helps. To learn more about testing, consulting, or courses, local producers are encouraged to contact Farmer Analytics directly via the company website or social channels.
