Texas Mother Charged With Capital Murder After Two Sons Fatally Shot in Waxahachie

Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, has been charged with two counts of capital murder after her two sons were found shot inside their Waxahachie home in the early hours of Oct. 1, authorities say.
What Happened
Deputies from the Ellis County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call at about 4:13 a.m. to a residence in the 900 block of Big Sky Drive. Inside the home they found two male victims with gunshot wounds. Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 15-year-old brother was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.
Arrest and Booking
Law enforcement located the boys' mother, Colleen Nichole Lemmon, at the home; she had injuries that were described as not life-threatening. Investigators say evidence recovered at the scene produced probable cause to believe Lemmon shot both sons. Lemmon was taken to a hospital for treatment after her arrest and, once released, was transported to the Wayne McCollum Detention Center and formally booked on Oct. 1 on two counts of capital murder. Records show bond was set at $2.5 million and she remains in custody.
Investigation and Response
Authorities confirmed the victims' father has been notified. In a press release, Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman offered condolences to the family:
“My deepest sympathies go out to the victims' father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident. They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time.”
