Kate Hall Wilson says she grew up in a turbulent Louisiana household and that her high school math teacher, Alicia, repeatedly reported suspected abuse to CPS. Wilson alleges that when CPS visited and her mother offered to surrender her, officers handcuffed her and she was placed in a psychiatric facility for about a month before being returned to her mother. Alicia tried to foster Wilson but the placement never occurred; years later Wilson asked Alicia to adopt her and now describes having a loving, supportive family.

Kate Hall Wilson, who grew up in Louisiana, says she endured a turbulent childhood and that repeated reports about her welfare were made to Child Protective Services (CPS) by a trusted teacher.

Teacher Intervention

Wilson told viewers on TikTok that her high school math teacher, Alicia, repeatedly reported suspected abuse and alerted the school counselor. According to Wilson, Alicia and the counselor made numerous calls to CPS after noticing signs that something was wrong at home.

What Happened When CPS Arrived

Wilson says that when CPS visited the home, her mother told officers to take her. Wilson alleges that CPS then called the police and, instead of arresting her mother, officers handcuffed Wilson and placed her in the back of a police car.

‘I get handcuffed, put in the back of the police car. I was placed in a mental hospital because there was no group home for me to go in yet,’ Wilson said, describing roughly a month-long stay.

Wilson adds that she was admitted to a psychiatric facility because there was reportedly no room in a group home, and that after about a month she was returned to her mother's custody. Wilson describes Louisiana as a state that emphasizes reunification, which she says contributed to her being placed back with her biological mother.

Attempts To Foster and System Failures

Wilson says Alicia repeatedly tried to foster her and had discussed the possibility with her own children. According to Wilson, the foster placement never happened. She describes this experience as a failure of the system and says she spent all four years of high school still living in the same home despite ongoing reports to CPS.

Aftermath and Adoption

After graduating and moving out, Wilson cut ties with her biological mother. She asked Alicia to be the mother of the bride and later asked her to adopt her. Wilson now says she has a supportive family, including two siblings and extended relatives who welcomed her.
