The Isle of Man trial heard that 14-year-old Christopher McBurnie was fatally stabbed after a confrontation allegedly arranged via Snapchat. Prosecutors say the accused, a 15-year-old who denies murder, sent threats and shared the victim's address, prompting a meeting at the accused's home. A pathologist told the court the chest wound pierced the lung and severed major blood vessels, leading to immediate, fatal blood loss. The trial continues at Douglas Courthouse.
14-Year-Old Christopher McBurnie Fatally Stabbed After 'Pre-Arranged' Snapchat Fight, Trial Hears

A 14-year-old boy, identified as Christopher McBurnie, was fatally stabbed with "severe force" after an alleged confrontation that had been arranged over social media, a trial on the Isle of Man has heard.
Christopher was pronounced dead at the scene following the attack in Ramsey on 29 May last year. A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, is accused of inflicting the fatal wound and denies murder.
Opening the prosecution case, David Temkin KC told the court that while the defence will argue the defendant acted in self-defence, the assault was "deliberate and frenzied" and carried an intent to kill.
Temkin said the two teenagers, who were both 14 at the time of the exchanges, had never met in person but had traded insults and threats online, including in a Snapchat group. The prosecutor said the accused repeatedly pushed for a confrontation and even supplied Christopher's home address and postcode, suggesting he "wanted to fight on his own territory."
The court heard messages attributed to Christopher, including: "Lad, you're not doing nothing, you're the biggest keyboard warrior ever," and "I'm not going to get you jumped, I'm saying one-on-one." Messages from the defendant reportedly included invitations such as "come [to] Ramsey" and explicit threats; a voice message allegedly contained the words: "I'll kill you if you come to my house, on my mum's life."
On the afternoon of the stabbing, Christopher had travelled by bus from Castletown with two friends to Ramsey. On arrival they met a group of other children and walked to the accused's home, arriving at about 15:30 BST. The stabbing is said to have occurred after Christopher, unarmed, approached the front door. The group had expected a fistfight, but the level of violence was unexpectedly severe.
According to evidence from a pathologist presented in court, the fatal wound was to the right side of the chest; it entered the lung and severed major blood vessels, causing "immediate and torrential blood loss." Christopher was pronounced dead roughly 40 minutes later.
Temkin described the attack as "unlawful, deliberate and frenzied," saying it lasted only a few seconds but was intended to kill or to inflict very serious harm. He told the court the pre-meeting messages made clear the defendant would come out and kill Christopher, and concluded: "That is exactly what happened." The defence disputes that account and says the defendant acted in self-defence.
The trial is continuing at Douglas Courthouse.
