The White House has continued to experience high-level departures as Patrick Adams, a deputy assistant to the president and press adviser, confirmed he left his role after 20 months.
An administration official told The Daily Beast that Adams was the latest senior aide to depart; CBS News reporter Jennifer Jacobs first reported the exit. Adams, who had been promoted from special assistant earlier this year, confirmed the news in a post on X.
“After 20 historic months serving President Trump, yesterday was my last day at the White House,” Adams wrote on X. He added that the role was “the most fun and rewarding job I've ever had. Forever grateful.”

Career And Role In The Press Office
Adams served in several communications roles prior to his White House promotion: he worked briefly as a presidential writer in the first Trump administration, was Associate Director of Strategic Communications for the Trump 2020 campaign, and spent four months in 2021 as communications director for former Kansas Rep. Jake LaTurner. Inside the White House, Adams was a behind-the-scenes operator who helped prepare press briefings, coordinated guest briefings by senior officials, and selected which independent journalists would occupy the “new media” seat.
Sources who spoke to Jacobs described Adams orchestrating media preparations. On one occasion, while overseeing the press team during then-Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt's absence, Adams arranged for Senator Marco Rubio to take part in a practice briefing ahead of a public appearance; according to those sources, every question the Secretary of State faced had been included on a list Adams prepared.
Reactions And Context
Adams received public praise from current and former Republican communications staff on X. White House spokesperson Davis Ingles called him “a true American patriot” and said he would be missed. Kaelan Dorr, head of digital strategy, and former deputy communications director Alex Pfeiffer also posted tributes.

Adams is married to Rachel Jag, who serves as a counselor to Attorney General Todd Blanche.
This departure comes amid a broader pattern of turnover at the White House. Recent exits include Paige Willey (deputy assistant to the president for economic policy), former press secretary Karoline Leavitt, deputy national security adviser Andy Baker, legislative affairs director James Braid, and earlier departures such as spokesperson Abigail Jackson, senior policy strategist Emily Underwood, cabinet affairs director Lea Bardon, and media affairs director Sonny Joy Nelson.
