Dashcam footage captured a dramatic Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) pursuit after a Chevrolet Silverado reportedly reached 98 mph in a 70-mph zone and weaved through traffic. Rather than pull over when a marked FHP Dodge Charger activated its lights and siren, the truck accelerated and engaged in increasingly aggressive driving that escalated the chase.
Collision, Damage And Arrest
As a second marked Charger joined the pursuit, the Silverado allegedly sideswiped one cruiser, damaging its push bar. The situation worsened when the pickup struck the rear quarter of another Charger, rotating that patrol vehicle and forcing it out of the chase. The trooper involved was not seriously injured.
The Silverado sustained heavy damage in the collision: the front passenger-side wheel detached, and the driver briefly attempted to flee on three wheels with parts of the truck scraping the pavement. An unmarked FHP Charger eventually ended the pursuit with a PIT-style maneuver and took the driver into custody.
Possible Impairment And Footage Circulation
Officers later reported finding empty alcohol containers and used marijuana cigars inside the Silverado, suggesting impairment may have been a factor. Dashcam and pursuit video of the incident have circulated online following the arrest.
