Texas Bakery Sparks Renewed Controversy With Anti-Trump Cookies Ahead Of GOP Convention

The Hive Bakery in Flower Mound, Texas, is once again drawing national attention for selling cookies bearing a profanity directed at former President Donald Trump as he arrives for the Republican midterm convention in nearby Dallas.

Cookies Sell Out As 'Trumpapalooza' Begins

About 30 miles from the convention site, the bakery says the controversial cookies have been selling out daily, according to its social media accounts. The timing coincides with a two-day Republican midterm convention that began Sept. 9 in Dallas — an event organizers have nicknamed "Trumpapalooza," featuring Trump and more than 100 Republican figures.

History Of Political Stands

The Hive Bakery previously attracted national headlines in early July after posting on Facebook that it was "not wanting to celebrate the 4th this year," saying the owners felt "embarrassed, afraid, and disappointed in what this country has become." That post reinforced the bakery's reputation for combining political commentary with its products.

"MAGA is adversarial," the Facebook post said. "Those conservatives who still have rational thought have left the MAGA movement. Those who remain and continue to support the most corrupt administration in our nation's history are here, wishing for our bakery to burn to the ground."

The shop also reported selling out its "Distress Sugar Cookies," which featured an upside-down American flag and the words "Under Distress."
