Russia said Ukraine launched one of its heaviest drone attacks yet, with Kremlin-linked sources claiming 1,478 fixed-wing drones were destroyed in a single day. Moscow region officials reported 187 UAVs neutralized near the capital, one civilian fatality and three injuries. A Wildberries logistics hub in Koledino (about 250,000 sq m) was hit and reportedly caught fire; Ukraine's defense ministry says seven of the company's 10 largest hubs are now out of operation. The figures are reported by Russian state sources and have not been independently verified.
Russia Says Ukraine Launched Largest Drone Assault Yet; Kremlin Claims Nearly 1,500 UAVs Downed

Russia reported that Ukraine carried out one of its most intense drone campaigns to date on Sunday, with Kremlin-linked sources saying Russian air defenses intercepted nearly 1,500 unmanned aerial vehicles in a single day.
State-owned RIA Novosti quoted Russian defense officials saying the operation marked the highest single-day total of destroyed Ukrainian fixed-wing drones: 1,478 downed aircraft. The Russian Ministry of Defense added that the five largest days for drone shootdowns have all occurred in August, listing reported daily totals of 1,328 (Saturday), 1,158 (Aug. 2), 1,155 (Aug. 6) and 1,150 (Thursday).
Claims and Context
RIA Novosti also calculated that Russian air-defense forces have destroyed more than 100,000 Ukrainian UAVs since the start of the year, a figure presented as part of Moscow's broader narrative about defending territory and infrastructure from increasingly frequent airborne attacks. These numbers come from Russian official sources and have not been independently verified.
Impact Around Moscow
Andrey Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow region, said the capital "was subjected to one of the most massive drone attacks in recent times" overnight into Sunday. In a Telegram post he said air-defense and electronic-warfare units shot down or neutralized 187 UAVs across multiple locations in and around Moscow.
"The city was subjected to one of the most massive drone attacks in recent times," Andrey Vorobyov wrote.
Vorobyov reported one fatality — an 83-year-old man in the Ramenskoye district — and three people injured in the Koledino district. The strike in Koledino ignited a large fire at a Wildberries logistics warehouse, which Reuters and other outlets have previously reported as a repeated target in efforts to disrupt Moscow-area supply chains.
Logistics Hubs, Damage And Claims From Kyiv
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense posted on X (formerly Twitter) that seven of Wildberries' 10 largest logistics hubs have been taken out of operation. The ministry said the Koledino industrial park warehouse — described as Wildberries' largest by area at roughly 250,000 square meters — and a warehouse in Domodedovo had ceased operations following the attack; witnesses reported a massive fire at the Koledino site.
Russian and Ukrainian accounts of these events differ and the casualty and damage figures cited here reflect the claims made by the parties involved. Independent verification by third-party observers was not cited in Russian state reports referenced in this article.
