Ukraine said it used domestically produced Flamingo cruise missiles to strike the Progress Centre, a Roscosmos rocket facility about 900 km (560 miles) from the border, and also hit the Savasleyka air base. Russian officials reported repelled attacks and some industrial damage in Samara, while a drone strike in Shatura injured two people, including a nine-year-old. Russia struck back in Ukraine, with an apartment attack in Marhanets killing a three-month-old. Moscow is demanding clarification from the US and Turkiye over reports that Turkiye may transfer a large package of US weapons and ammunition to Kyiv, warning of diplomatic consequences.
Ukraine Strikes Deep Into Russia With Domestic Flamingo Missiles; Moscow Demands Answers Over Possible US Arms Shipment From Turkiye

Ukraine has carried out a series of long-range strikes inside Russian territory, targeting a Roscosmos rocket facility and a military air base while Moscow seeks clarification from Washington and Ankara about reports that Turkiye may forward a large package of US weapons and ammunition to Kyiv.
What Happened
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces used domestically produced Flamingo cruise missiles to hit the Progress Centre, a rocket complex operated for Russia's space agency, Roscosmos. Zelenskyy described the centre as central to Russia's war effort because it manufactures rocket components and electronics. The site is roughly 900 km (560 miles) from Ukraine's border, underscoring Kyiv's growing long-range strike capability.
Ukrainian forces also struck the Savasleyka air base, about 700 km (430 miles) from the frontier, according to Ukrainian officials.
'Our plan of long-range sanctions against Russia for this war is being implemented, and it is important that Russia's war potential be reduced. Peace is needed, and this must be evident in Russia – through concrete damage to specific facilities,' Zelenskyy said.
Reports From Russia
Ivan Noskov, mayor of Samara, said regional air defences had repelled what he called a 'massive' Ukrainian attack, and confirmed that some industrial sites sustained damage. In the Moscow region, a Ukrainian drone reportedly struck a house in the town of Shatura, injuring two people, including a nine-year-old child; Governor Andrey Vorobyov said the child’s condition had stabilised.
Russian Strikes Inside Ukraine
Russian forces also struck inside Ukraine on Saturday. An attack on an apartment block in the southeastern town of Marhanets killed a three-month-old baby, local officials said.
Diplomatic Fallout
Moscow announced it is seeking answers from the United States and Turkiye over media reports that Turkiye may transfer to Kyiv a 'substantial arsenal' of US weapons and ammunition held in Turkiye. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that such a transfer, if carried out, would cause 'serious harm' to Russia's relations with both countries.
Context
The strikes highlight Kyiv's expanding reach and its effort to pressure Russia by targeting infrastructure linked to its military and space programs. At the same time, escalating arms transfers to Ukraine could strain Russia's diplomatic ties with nations involved in such shipments.
