The mini-report highlights key global and U.S. developments: a deadly 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia, killing more than 100 people and prompting rescue operations. Iran says it will only reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the U.S. meets conditions in a June memorandum, while Israel rejected a U.S.-backed 15-point plan to disarm Hamas. U.S. officials say an explosive-laden drone found at a German airport likely links to Russia. At home, Will Scharf was named White House counsel, the Senate confirmed several economic nominees, and President Trump will attend the "Patriot Games" in Ohio.

Today's quick round-up of major international and domestic developments.

Colombia Earthquake

A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday morning, shaking large parts of the country. Officials said the quake has killed more than 100 people and forced residents to flee swaying and collapsing buildings in multiple major cities. Rescuers continued searching rubble as authorities warned of likely aftershocks and cautioned that the death toll may rise.

Strait of Hormuz Talks Stall

Former President Donald Trump suggested last week that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz was imminent. An unnamed senior Iranian official told MS NOW on Monday that Tehran will only reopen the waterway if the United States satisfies all conditions outlined in a June memorandum of understanding between the two countries. According to the official, those conditions include unfreezing Iranian funds and an end to fighting in Lebanon.

Israel Rejects U.S.-Backed Plan on Hamas

Two months after Mr. Trump said of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, "If I tell him to do something, he does it," the Israeli government rejected a 15-point plan backed by the Trump administration aimed at disarming Hamas in Gaza, Prime Minister Netanyahu said on Sunday.

Explosive Drone Found at German Airport

U.S. officials familiar with intelligence reports say an explosive-laden drone discovered at a German airport this week likely originated with the Russian government. The incident has prompted heightened scrutiny from intelligence partners and raised concerns about state-linked weaponized drones being used or transported in Europe.

White House Counsel Change

President Trump announced on Sunday that Will Scharf, his staff secretary and a conservative lawyer, will replace David Warrington as White House counsel. The move is one of the few notable West Wing personnel changes since Mr. Trump returned to Washington.

Senate Confirmations

On Friday, the Senate confirmed dozens of the president's pending nominees, including two key economic officials: Brett Matsumoto, who will serve as Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Christopher Phelan, who will serve as Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

Patriot Games

President Trump is scheduled to travel to Geneva, Ohio, on Tuesday to attend the "Patriot Games," a sporting event created by his administration to mark America's 250th anniversary. The competition features one male and one female athlete selected from each of the 50 states.
