Manhunt Underway for 32-Year-Old Accused of Killing Father and Setting House Ablaze in Greenville, NY

Law enforcement continued an active manhunt Saturday for Thomas David Ryan, 32, who investigators believe killed his 70-year-old father and then set the family home on fire to conceal the crime, officials said.
Authorities say the fire was reported Thursday evening at a residence on Greenville Turnpike in the town of Greenville, Orange County. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and crews discovered a man's body inside the home; law enforcement later identified the victim as Robert Ryan, 70.
A preliminary investigation determined the fire was deliberately set, and state police are treating the death as a homicide while continuing to gather evidence, authorities said. Investigators are also reviewing the suspect's mental health history as part of the inquiry.
Video from a Ring doorbell camera obtained by ABC News appears to show Thomas Ryan fleeing the burning residence, according to investigators. Police describe him as about 6 ft. 2 in. tall and approximately 200 lbs. He was last seen in the Greenville Turnpike area wearing black sweatpants and a black T-shirt.
Ryan is considered armed and dangerous and is known to frequent the Plattsburgh area in Clinton County, officials said. He may be driving a gray 2016 Toyota Prius with New York license plate HNH-7671.
“My Dad was a pillar in our family and every community he was a part of. He made you feel welcome, he helped when you needed, and then some. He had more character in his pinky than most in their whole bodies; he did not deserve this,” the victim's daughter, Stephanie Coiro, told ABC News.
The New York State Police are asking Greenville residents to review any home surveillance footage recorded beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Thursday and continuing through the overnight hours. Anyone who observes suspicious activity on camera or in person should contact authorities immediately.
Police warned the public not to approach the suspect. If you have information, call New York State Police Troop F Communications at (845) 344-5300 or dial 911. Tips can also be emailed to [email protected]. ABC News reporters and state police continue to develop leads in the case.
