Russian forces carried out overnight strikes that Moscow says targeted the Kyiv-11 "Fire Point" plant — a Ukrainian defence facility linked to long-range drones and missiles, including the Flamingo cruise missile. Separately, ballistic missile strikes in the Kyiv region killed three people, among them a child, and caused widespread fires and structural damage.

What Happened
Moscow's Defence Ministry claimed the Kyiv-11 Fire Point plant was among its targets. Ukrainian officials reported that strikes in Brovary district of Kyiv region damaged residential buildings, vehicles and outbuildings and sparked fires at non-residential sites. Video circulating after the attack showed explosions and large plumes of smoke.

Casualties and Damage
Regional governor Tymur Tkachenko said three people, including a child, were killed and seven others wounded in the Brovary strikes. Emergency services reported fires in Holosiivskyi and Obolonskyi districts of the capital; two garages and a commercial building were affected, and at least one fire at an enterprise was extinguished.

In Odesa, Russian strikes badly damaged the 34,000-seat Chornomorets Stadium, destroying the roof, windows and stands. A 29-year-old woman suffered shrapnel wounds, authorities said. The attack occurred a day before a scheduled Ukrainian Premier League match.
Cross-Border Attacks
Separately, Ukrainian drones struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region, igniting large fires and injuring five people. Officials in Russia's Samara region reported damage at an industrial facility after another drone attack.
Claims and Counterclaims
Moscow said its air defences intercepted and destroyed 397 Ukrainian drones overnight and that Russian forces struck two Ukrainian cargo ships east of Odesa, alleging they were carrying weapons and military equipment. Ukraine has reported a critical shortage of missile interceptors, and recent Russian barrages have overwhelmed Ukrainian defences: officials said that in one recent attack that killed 17 people, none of the incoming missiles were intercepted.
Volodymyr Zelensky: "Europe, America, and Ukraine have long wanted to stop this Russian war. Only Putin doesn't want to, and he's desperately clinging to his ballistic missiles and drones to keep the war going."
Political And International Context
The latest strikes coincided with President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Belgrade for talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. Zelensky is seeking broader international support, discussing economic ties, security and Serbia's relationship with the EU; Vučić has maintained close ties with Moscow and has not imposed sanctions on Russia.
Meanwhile, the US Senate approved a sanctions package aimed at reducing Russia's energy revenues, including provisions for tariffs of up to 100% on major importers of Russian oil and gas — a measure backed in Congress by Senator Lindsey Graham.
Outlook
Officials warn that continued strikes on energy and industrial infrastructure on both sides could escalate risks for civilians and broader regional stability. Emergency services remain active across affected areas while investigations and damage assessments continue.
