Ukrainian drone strikes overnight and on Sunday killed at least eight people across several Russian regions and hit a Wildberries warehouse in Samara, officials said. Russia's Defence Ministry reported downing 635 Ukrainian drones. Kyiv has broadened strikes on economic and energy targets — including about a dozen Wildberries sites since July 18 — and its forces say they struck the Saratov refinery, Engels airbase and a Kaluga oil depot. Regional officials reported casualties and damage in Saratov, Udmurtia, Belgorod and Bashkortostan.
Ukrainian Drone Strikes Kill At Least Eight In Russia; Wildberries Warehouse Hit, Officials Say

Ukrainian drone strikes overnight and on Sunday killed at least eight people across several Russian regions and struck multiple targets, including a Wildberries warehouse in Samara, regional officials said.
Major Incidents and Casualties
Regional authorities reported fatalities and damage in several areas. A strike on a residential building in the Saratov region killed two people in the city of Engels, Governor Roman Busargin said, and civil infrastructure was damaged in both Engels and Saratov city. Acting Udmurtia Governor Olga Abramova said three people were killed and two wounded in her region, while the Belgorod region reported three dead and five injured in separate strikes.
Wildberries Warehouse and Economic Targets
Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said a Wildberries warehouse in the Samara region — about 800 km (500 miles) from Ukraine's most advanced military positions — was hit; he reported no casualties and said firefighters were extinguishing a blaze. Kyiv's forces have targeted roughly a dozen Wildberries sites since July 18 in efforts to disrupt the company’s logistics and operations. Wildberries is frequently described as Russia’s answer to Amazon and is integral to the consumer economy.
Military And Energy Infrastructure
Ukraine's military said it had struck the Saratov oil refinery and the Engels airbase, igniting fires at both facilities, and had also hit an oil depot in the western Kaluga region. Saratov city hosts a major refinery, while Engels is home to a military airbase — both locations that Russian officials say have been targeted repeatedly in recent years.
Russian Air Defences And Local Response
Russia's Defence Ministry said air-defence units shot down 635 Ukrainian drones during the night. Bashkortostan Governor Radiy Khabirov said regional air-defence units repelled a large drone attack on industrial facilities; one drone was shot down over the industrial area of Ufa and emergency crews were extinguishing a fire.
Context: Kyiv has been striking deeper into Russian territory in recent months, broadening attacks on economic and energy infrastructure as part of efforts to degrade Moscow's capacity to sustain the more than four-year conflict.
